The $100 paper banknote features Sir Douglas Mawson and John Tebbutt. It was first issued in 1984. Mawson led expeditions to Antarctica and made scientific contributions to the fields of physics and geology. Tebbutt was a pioneer of Australian astronomy and discovered major comets.
